Renovations at Foz do Iguaçu Airport should be completed by the end of 2024

(Foz do Iguaçu, June 18, 2024) – The works being carried out at Iguassu Falls International Airport will enable the economic development of the western region of the Brazilian state of Paraná and offer passengers a better travel experience.

With an estimated investment of over US$ 1,566 billion the renovations will increase operational safety, optimize aircraft handling capacity and provide a more comfortable and modern environment for passengers. They include adapting the runway escape areas to current legislation; three new aircraft yards; renovation and expansion of the Passenger Terminal with new connectors for access to the boarding bridges; construction of Cargo Terminals, among others.

Everything is expected to be ready by the end of 2024. “The efforts and investments we are making will further raise the standard of the airport and strengthen its role as an important element in the economic and tourist development of Foz do Iguaçu and the region,” says the CEO of CCR Aeroportos, Fabio Russo.

Approval of the runway

The airport’s management company will also complete the works and have the runway extension approved by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). With the extension of over 2,000 ft, the landing and take-off runway at Iguassu Falls Airport will increase from over 7,000 ft to over 9,300 ft, making it one of the largest in operation in Southern Brazil.
