Brazilian Congress of Angiology and Vascular Surgery, BR+Coop 2024, and International Fish Congress Draw Over Six Thousand Participants to the City
Iguassu Falls is hosting three major events in September, attracting over six thousand participants and boosting the local economy. With events spanning areas such as vascular medicine, cooperativism, and aquaculture, the city increasingly stands out as a key destination for business tourism.
Until the 6th, the 45th Brazilian Congress of Angiology and Vascular Surgery is gathering around 2,500 healthcare professionals at Recanto Cataratas, including some of the country’s most renowned vascular surgeons. The event offers opportunities for scientific updates and knowledge exchange among specialists in the field.
From the 11th to the 13th of this month, BR+Coop 2024 will take place at the Grand Carimã Resort, exploring the potential of Brazilian cooperativism. With a focus on innovation, technology, and sustainability, the event is expected to attract around 1,500 attendees, including industry leaders, to discuss new practices and ESG-related solutions.
On September 24th, 25th, and 26th, the VI International Fish Congress & Fish Expo Brasil-IFC, also at Recanto Cataratas, will bring discussions on the challenges and opportunities in the fish industry to Foz do Iguaçu. The event will feature over 40 speakers from 18 countries and more than 100 exhibitors. Known for its high level of debate and networking opportunities, it is expected to attract two thousand participants, including businesspeople, aquaculturists, retail and food service agents, service providers, suppliers, industry leaders, and opinion makers.
In its sixth edition, IFC Brazil is well-established for its high-quality debates, speakers, and qualified audience. Event President Altemir Gregolin highlights the favorable conditions for sector development. “In the last decade, the world has seen growth in fish production, consumption, and trade. FAO projections for the coming decades indicate increased demand, signaling many opportunities for Brazil. In this perspective, IFC aims to help Brazil solidify its role as a major global player in fish production and trade,” the executive emphasizes.
Events Expected to Inject R$ 31.5 Million into the Local Economy
Visit Iguassu played a crucial role in securing these three events. According to Elaine Tenerello, Executive Director of the Institute, hosting these congresses in Foz do Iguaçu reinforces the city’s role as a business and knowledge hub while stimulating the local economy through accommodation, dining, and various event-related services. The Institute, which serves as the Convention & Visitors Bureau for Iguassu Falls, estimates that these events will inject at least R$ 31.5 million into the local economy, based solely on registered participants.
These funds will be invested in venue rental, equipment, setup, hiring event-related HR companies, ambulances, video production companies, ceremonial professionals, photographers, accommodation, food and beverages at city bars and restaurants, tickets to tourist attractions, transportation with receptive agencies, ride apps, and taxis, as well as shopping in local stores, among many other options used by event participants in the city and the tri-national region. “It is increasingly necessary to recognize tourism as the main economic sector of Foz do Iguaçu,” Elaine notes.
